Screened Porch with Screen Eze and ProVia

See the Project

This project brought a long, elevated rear porch on an older brick home back to life by screening it in.
The porch sits well above the backyard on existing brick piers and white-painted columns — a substantial structure that just needed the right enclosure system to make it a usable, comfortable space.
The screened porch paneling is done with Screen Eze white aluminum extrusion installed within the existing framing, with a 3-inch white extrusion added to the bottom of the header to build it down for proper screen panel fit. The fabric is charcoal fiberglass pet screen — a heavier-gauge material than standard fiberglass that holds up better against contact from furniture, pets, and general use over time. Entry from the landing is through a ProVia 32x80-inch full-view aluminum screened door with black contemporary curved hardware, which provides a clean contrast point against the all-white screen framing and column surround.
The exterior landing is one step below the screened porch floor, finished in TimberTech cap stock composite decking with a picture frame border and matching stair treads, risers, and fascia. Vinyl apron wraps the perimeter. Westbury Tuscany 36" powder-coated aluminum railing runs the full flat area and down both sides of the stairs. The result is a refreshed usable space that allows for connection with the outdoors while keeping comfort top of mind.
Why This Project Works
- Screen Eze aluminum extrusion integrates cleanly with the existing column and header framing without requiring structural changes
- Charcoal fiberglass pet screen is significantly more durable than standard screen fabric and better suited to a porch that will see heavy daily use
- The ProVia full-view screened door with black hardware is a purposeful contrast detail against the white framing — simple but effective
- Adding the 3-inch extrusion to the existing header allowed the screen system to fit properly without any structural modification
- Westbury Tuscany railing on the landing below ties the new composite platform to the white column and screen framing above
- The consistent use of white across the screen framing, columns, and railing makes the addition read as part of the original structure from the yard
