Sunroom and Deck

See the Project

This project involved the construction of an enclosed sunroom addition along with installation of an open deck, together creating a connected outdoor living area that functions comfortably across all four seasons. The sunroom is fully conditioned via a mini-split HVAC unit, making it a genuinely usable space year-round.
The open deck features TimberTech/Azek composite decking in Mahogany, installed in a multi-width pattern for added visual interest. Westbury Tuscany railing in Fine Textured Black runs along the perimeter, and the deck base is wrapped with Exterior Portfolio 10" Board and Batten vinyl apron in Country Beige, which coordinates well with the home's existing stucco exterior.
Inside the sunroom, a cedar v-groove ceiling runs the length of the space, providing a natural wood finish overhead. Marvin black awning windows wrap three sides of the room, bringing in ample natural light and views of the landscaped backyard. A ProVia Legacy Series door in black serves as the primary entry point between the sunroom and the open deck. The consistent use of black on the windows, doors, and exterior railing gives the project a cohesive look that ties back to the home's architectural details.
The result is a well-appointed space that functions as a natural extension of the home's interior while maintaining a clear connection to the backyard.
Why This Project Works
- The mini-split HVAC unit makes the sunroom usable year-round, functioning as true additional living space rather than a seasonal porch
- Marvin black awning windows on three sides maximize natural light and maintain unobstructed backyard views
- The consistent use of black across the railing, windows, and doors creates a unified look across both the open deck and enclosed room
- Cedar v-groove ceiling adds natural warmth and prevents the sunroom from feeling like a standard addition
- The multi-width TimberTech/Azek Mahogany decking pattern adds custom character to the open deck
- Board and Batten vinyl apron ties the deck structure to the home's existing stucco exterior cleanly
- The ProVia Legacy Series French doors create a strong visual and functional connection between the sunroom and the outdoor deck
