This multi-level deck is designed to elevate outdoor living through thoughtful engineering, premium materials, and refined aesthetics. Every aspect of the project was carefully planned to create a space that feels both visually striking and highly functional, offering long-term durability with minimal maintenance. The design balances structural integrity with clean architectural lines, resulting in an outdoor living area that enhances the home while standing up to everyday use and changing seasons.
The finished surface features TimberTech cap stock composite decking, selected for its exceptional durability, low-maintenance performance, and realistic natural wood appearance. Unlike traditional wood decking, this composite material resists fading, staining, and splintering, making it an ideal choice for long-term outdoor enjoyment. Deck boards are installed to run cleanly to the house wall on the upper deck, creating a seamless transition between the home and outdoor space. On the lower level, boards are installed parallel to the house wall, reinforcing a cohesive and intentional layout across multiple elevations.
Concealoc fastening systems are used throughout the deck surface to ensure a smooth, polished finish free of exposed hardware. This hidden fastening method enhances both the visual appeal and the comfort of the deck by eliminating visible screw heads. TimberTech stair treads, risers, and fascia extend the premium look down every step, maintaining consistency and quality across all walking surfaces. A PVC apron is installed throughout the lower deck, providing added moisture resistance while delivering a clean, finished architectural edge that protects underlying components.
Safety and style come together with the installation of Westbury Tuscany Verticable railing. These 36-inch-tall, powder-coated extruded aluminum rails are installed across all flat deck areas and along both sides of the stairs. The vertical cable design introduces modern lines that preserve open views while still delivering the strength and reliability required for code-compliant construction. The powder-coated finish resists corrosion and fading, ensuring the railing maintains its appearance over time with minimal upkeep.
Design selections complete the project with rich, coordinated tones that elevate the overall aesthetic. Dark Cocoa decking and stair treads pair beautifully with crisp white PVC risers and fascia, creating contrast and visual interest without overwhelming the space. The black railing adds a bold, contemporary accent that frames the deck and ties the entire design together. These carefully chosen finishes result in a timeless outdoor living space that blends modern design with long-lasting performance. This Delaware deck was built to be enjoyed for years to come, offering beauty, safety, and comfort with minimal ongoing maintenance.
