Deck in Worthington (October, 2025)

This front entry renovation focused on restoring structural integrity while giving the home’s entrance a clean, modern upgrade. Rather than rebuilding the entire structure, this project preserved the existing stone apron, posts, beams, ledger, and band boards, while replacing deteriorated framing components and updating the walking surface and railing system.

The original deck framing was removed, and any rotted joists and stair stringers were replaced to ensure long-term strength and stability. To further protect the new framing, acrylic deck tape was installed on all sky-facing surfaces, creating an added moisture barrier that helps prevent premature wood deterioration.

The deck and stairs were resurfaced using TimberTech Terrain+ Series cap stock composite decking in Silver Maple. Installed parallel to the house wall, the decking creates a clean, linear look that complements the vertical lines of the home’s stone façade. The soft Silver Maple tone brightens the entry while maintaining a timeless, neutral appearance.

Matching TimberTech stair treads, risers, and fascia, also in Silver Maple, provide a seamless finish from the top landing to the final step. Hidden fastening systems, including Camo and Toploc/Cortex fasteners, ensure a smooth, refined surface free of visible screws. The absence of picture-frame borders keeps the overall look streamlined and modern.

To complete the transformation, the original railing was removed and replaced with new 36" tall Westbury Tuscany C-10 powder-coated extruded aluminum railing in Fine Textured Black. The sleek vertical picket design enhances both safety and curb appeal, creating strong visual contrast against the light composite decking and natural stone columns.

The result is a front entry that feels solid, safe, and architecturally cohesive, blending durable composite materials with refined aluminum railing for long-lasting performance and elevated curb appeal.
