TimberTech, Cabana X
Deck with Cabana X Core Pergola

See the Project

This project reimagines a Worthington, Ohio backyard with a large, open-concept composite deck designed for both everyday use and elevated outdoor living. The new approximately 356 sq. ft. structure creates a seamless extension of the home, offering a clean, modern layout with defined zones for dining, lounging, and shade.
The deck is built on a pressure-treated frame supported by cement pier footings, 4x6 posts, beams, ledger and band boards, and joists spaced at 16" on center. Blocking, bridging, stair stringers, and apron bracing were integrated throughout, ensuring long-term structural performance.
TimberTech Legacy Series composite decking in Pecan was installed running parallel to the house, enhancing the visual flow and giving the space a rich, natural wood appearance without the maintenance of traditional lumber. The surface is finished with a picture frame border and secured using Concealoc hidden fasteners alongside Cortex plug fastening systems for a clean, uninterrupted look.
Two sets of 4' wide stairs provide functional access points, finished with matching TimberTech treads, risers, and fascia for a cohesive design. The deck is wrapped with a matching TimberTech apron, creating a polished, finished appearance from every angle. Integrated electrical outlets were added throughout the space to support lighting, entertainment, and outdoor appliances.
The standout feature is the 10' x 10' Cabana X Core pergola, finished in black framing with Aspen walnut-style motorized louvers. The adjustable slats run perpendicular to the home and are powered by a Somfy motor with remote control, allowing for effortless control of sunlight and shade. This addition defines a central gathering area while adding architectural interest and flexibility to the space.
