All-weather Deck System in Westerville (August 2025)

This project delivers a high-performance elevated deck designed for both visual impact and all-weather functionality. Built at approximately 255 square feet, the structure combines robust framing with premium composite materials and an integrated water management system—creating a dry, usable space below while maintaining a refined look above.

The deck frame was constructed using Owens Corning black structural components, including 6x6 posts, a 2x10 beam, and 2x8 joists spaced at 12" on center for enhanced strength and rigidity. Column wraps were added to create a clean, finished appearance that aligns with the home’s exterior.

The decking surface features TimberTech Reserve Series composite in Antique Leather, installed parallel to the house wall for a traditional, linear aesthetic. A Dark Roast picture frame border defines the perimeter, adding contrast and visual structure. The surface is secured using Camo hidden fasteners with Cortex plugs at key areas, ensuring a smooth, uninterrupted finish.

A standout feature of this build is the DexerDry thermoplastic spline system, which channels water away from the deck surface to keep the area below dry and protected. Combined with proper flashing at the house connection, this creates a functional dry space beneath the deck—ideal for patio use or storage.

The railing system uses Westbury Tuscany aluminum railing in a Fine Textured Bronze finish, providing durability with a warm, upscale look. A continuous Dark Roast drink cap adds both function and design continuity, tying in seamlessly with the deck border and enhancing usability for entertaining.
