See the Project

This project replaced an aging backyard deck with a newly engineered structure designed for durability, modern aesthetics, and improved accessibility. The finished deck provides approximately 230 square feet of outdoor living space while offering multiple access points to the yard and maintaining a clean, cohesive design that complements the home’s exterior.
The project began with the construction of a new pressure-treated deck frame. The structure was built on cement pier footings and supported by durable 4x6 posts, ensuring a stable foundation for the elevated deck.
The deck surface features TimberTech Terrain Series cap stock composite decking in Weathered Oak, installed parallel to the house wall to create long, consistent lines across the deck surface. The Weathered Oak finish offers the look of natural wood while delivering the durability and low-maintenance benefits of composite materials.
A picture-frame border in matching Weathered Oak surrounds the perimeter of the deck, providing a finished architectural edge that enhances the overall design. The decking boards were secured using a combination of Camo hidden fasteners and Cortex fastening systems, producing a clean surface with minimal visible hardware.
To improve accessibility and traffic flow, the deck includes two separate 4-foot-wide staircases leading from the deck down to the yard. Each staircase is finished with TimberTech composite stair treads, risers, and fascia in Weathered Oak, creating a consistent appearance from the deck surface down through the stairways.
Surrounding the deck and stairways is Westbury Tuscany 36-inch powder-coated extruded aluminum railing in Fine Textured Black. The sleek railing design provides essential safety while maintaining open views of the surrounding yard. The black finish creates a strong visual contrast against the lighter Weathered Oak decking, adding a modern architectural accent to the space.
To complete the finished appearance beneath the deck, an RMC vinyl apron in Canyon Brown was installed around the base of the structure. This apron conceals the framing while helping protect the underside of the deck and improving the overall visual presentation from ground level.
The result is a well-built, low-maintenance outdoor living space that blends structural strength with modern composite materials, offering a comfortable area for entertaining, relaxing, and enjoying the backyard for years to come.
