Deck in Columbus

See the Project

This project transformed an outdated backyard deck into a clean, modern outdoor space designed for durability, accessibility, and low maintenance. The new structure provides approximately 225 square feet of outdoor living area, creating a simple yet functional extension of the home’s sunroom while maintaining a streamlined appearance close to ground level.
A new pressure-treated deck frame measuring approximately 18' x 12'6" was constructed using cement pier footings and reinforced with 4x6 structural posts.
The finished deck surface features TimberTech Prime+ Series cap stock composite decking in Sea Salt Gray, installed perpendicular to the sunroom wall to create clean lines across the deck surface. The soft gray tone offers a contemporary appearance while delivering the long-term durability and minimal maintenance benefits of composite decking.
A picture-frame border in Sea Salt Gray was installed along both open sides of the deck to provide a polished, finished edge. The decking boards were secured using a combination of Concealoc hidden fasteners and Toploc fastening systems, creating a smooth deck surface with minimal visible hardware.
The design includes two separate sets of steps to improve access and circulation around the home. One staircase leads directly from the deck to the yard, while the second set of steps was installed along the rear of the house to provide a convenient transition point between the deck and the home’s exterior entry area. Each staircase is finished with TimberTech composite stair treads, risers, and fascia in Sea Salt Gray, maintaining a cohesive appearance throughout the project.
A TimberTech apron in matching Sea Salt Gray was installed around the base of the deck to conceal the structural framing and provide a clean, finished look from ground level.
The finished deck provides a simple, modern outdoor platform that blends seamlessly with the home’s exterior while delivering the durability and low-maintenance performance homeowners expect from composite decking.
